Two ways to conquer wrinkles. But which is best for your needs? Irons provide precise temperature control for pleats, while steamers offer speed and gentleness for delicate fabrics. Learn more in our comparison guide.

When to Choose an Iron

From basic models to high-end steam stations, irons offer precise temperature control for wrinkle-free results. A simple dial lets you adjust the heat for different fabrics. An iron’s pointed tip and adjustable heat are unmatched for crisp edges on dress pants, pleated skirts, or delicate detailing.

Pair your iron with the right ironing surface

♥ mini-board for small items

♥ a sleeve board for shirts,

♥ full-sized board for larger pieces

and you’ll achieve professional-looking results, especially on thicker fabrics like cotton and denim.

Note:  Always read an item’s care label to make sure it’s suitable for ironing ♥

Personally, I have used the Rowenta Pro Stainless for many years, its an excellent Iron, delivers perfect steam and has a large water tank.

When to Choose a Steamer

For fast, effortless wrinkle removal, a handheld steamer is a game-changer. Simply fill the water tank, let it heat up, and glide the steamer over wrinkles. The continuous steam (often around 15 minutes on a single fill) gently releases creases without the risk of scorching delicate fabrics. Steaming is ideal for:

♥ refreshing everyday clothes

♥ quickly dewrinkling curtains or bed skirts

♥ steaming delicate materials like velvet – fabrics that are often unsuitable for ironing like silk

♥ travel

A great overall Portable steamer is the ConAir
