ConAir Fabric Steamer

This is one of my favorite clothes steamer to smooth wrinkles quickly without the hassle of an ironing board. It heats up fast and works on all fabrics.  It is very easy to use – hang your clothes, fill the steamer with distilled water, wait for the steam to flow,  glide it over the fabrics, and watch the wrinkles disappear!

I’ve used mine on everything from delicate silks to heavy curtains. It’s an essential tool in my wardrobe care routine.

How To Use Conair Fabric Steamer 

  1. Fill the water reservoir with distilled water.
  2. Plug the unit into the electrical outlet.
  3. Press the ON/OFF button to turn the steamer on.
  4. Allow 40 seconds for the unit to warm up. The steamer is ready to use when the READY light stops blinking and remains solid.
  5. Select the desired steam setting.
  6. Press the STEAM button to emit steam. Point the steam jets away from you.

After use, empty any leftover water and let the steamer cool down.

I descale it when it starts to spit out water or when I see white film on the inside of the tank.

  • Use Distilled Water: Using distilled water can prevent mineral buildup and extend its life. 
  • Test on an Old Cloth: When first using the device, or after a long period of non-use, test it on an old cloth, as there may be sediment left from the manufacturing process or transportation.
  • Empty the Water Tank After Each Use: This helps prevent mineral buildup and keeps the steamer clean.
  • Clean the Soleplate Regularly: Wipe the soleplate with a damp cloth to remove any residue.  

How to Descale a Clothes Steamer – ConAir Turbo ExtremeSteam

To descale your ConAir Turbo ExtremeSteam Handheld Garment Steamer, follow these steps:

  • Fill the water tank with a mixture of 1/3 white vinegar and 2/3 distilled water
  • Turn on the steamer and allow it to run until half of the mixture has steamed out
  • Unplug and let it sit for 30 minutes
  • Empty the remaining mixture from the water tank
  • Rinse the tank with fresh water for a minimum of 5 times
  • Before using the steamer on your clothes, run a fresh cycle of cold, distilled water through it to remove any vinegar residue.

Tips for Effective Steaming

I always test my steamer on a hidden area first, especially for delicate fabrics. This makes sure it won’t damage the clothes.

For best results, I steam in an up-and-down motion. Side-to-side can create new wrinkles.

I use my free hand to pull the fabric taut. This helps the steam penetrate better.

For collars and cuffs, I flip them up before steaming, creates a nice crease.

Conair Steamer Accessories

My Conair steamer came with a fabric brush attachment and use it for heavier fabrics like wool.

The lint brush helps remove pet hair and lint while I steam.

For delicate items, I use the soft cushion brush. It’s gentle on silk and lace.

The Turbo ExtremeSteam setting is great for tough wrinkles. It works well on on jeans and heavy cotton.

The dual voltage, makes it perfect for travel worldwide.
