Descaling” is the process of removing mineral buildup (limescale) from your steamer. This buildup can occur when you use hard water, which contains high levels of minerals like calcium and magnesium. Over time, limescale can clog the steamer’s vents, reduce steam output, and even damage the heating element
- Mix a descaling solution: You can use a commercial descaling product or a homemade solution of equal parts white vinegar and distilled water.
- Fill the water tank: Pour the descaling solution into the steamer’s tank.
- Run the steamer: Turn it on and let it run until about half of the solution has been used.
- Let it sit: Unplug the steamer and let the solution sit in the tank for about an hour and 30 minutes.
- Rinse and Repeat: Empty the tank, rinse it with fresh water, and repeat the process if necessary.
- Flush with lean water: Once the steamer is descaled, cycle with fresh distilled water to remove residual vinegar or descaling solution.
